We are excited to announce several changes in how Assignr manages referee and umpire availability. Due to the overwhelming feedback we have received from officials that need to provide availability for specific assignors or locations, we will be releasing this functionality on Tuesday, July 2.
For officials who do not provide site-specific availability, nothing will change with regard to how you manage your availability to Assignr.
TL;DR
- Starting on Tuesday, July 2, you can indicate the sites, venues, or venue areas you are willing to work for on a day-by-day basis.
- If you provide site-specific availability, you will manage this in one place, rather than switching between sites to provide availability for each site individually.
- Assignors will no longer have access to change availability for officials.
- Web version of Assignr will be released on Tuesday, with the mobile app following behind within 24-48 hours.
How will this work?
Currently, Assignr allows you to provide the days and times you are available to work. If you wanted to provide site-specific availability, you would need to enable this feature in your profile, and then maintain separate availability calendars for each site.
Once these new changes are released, you will have an additional option to indicate, on a day-by-day basis, the site(s), venue(s) or venue area(s) you are willing to work. If you do not specify a site, venue, or venue area, you will be indicating a willingness to work for any assignor in your profile.
Additionally, for officials who provided availability on a site-by-site basis, you will now provide your availability (dates and times available to work) in one place. For days that you are only willing to work in specific locations, you will indicate these locations on the same calendar. If you are flexible with regard to location, you will indicate you are available on a specific day without specifying any sites or venues, and you will be shown as available to all assignors you work with.
On your availability calendar, if you have location-specific availability, you will see an icon of a map pin on the day to indicate your availability is restrited by location.
To see the details of how this new functionality will work, you can read our Help Center article on managing your availability.
For Assignors
Currently we allow assignors to make changes to an official’s availability on their behalf. With these changes, it no longer makes sense for an assignor to change the availability of an official, as these changes may affect other assignors. As such, assignors will no longer be able to do this for an official.
Assignors can still assign an official to a game when they have not indicated they are available. When this happens, we will show this as a ‘D’ (date) conflict as we have in the past. Once the official accepts the game, this conflict will go away.
Release Dates
This functionality will initially be released on the website on Tuesday, July 2. Once this has been released on the website, we will be releasing changes to the mobile app within the next 24-48 hours. Should you need to change your location-specific availability immediately, and you do not see this functionality on the mobile app, just use the website to make this change.
As a part of this process, for officials who already provide separate availability to each site they work with, we will use this information to mark days where you are only willing to work with specific sites.
