Using the iCalendar Feed

Ical

The iCalendar service allows you to subscribe to your game schedule from various calendar software. This means that you can always have an up-to-date copy of your schedule on your computer. Once you provide your calendar software your unique iCalendar feed URL, your calendar software will periodically check the assignr.com website and automatically update your calendar as your game schedule changes.

Software that allows you to subscribe to an iCalendar service includes Apple iCal, Google Calendar, Mozilla Sunbird, and other supported calendar programs.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2003, the Remote Calendars open-source third-party plugin allows you to subscribe to iCalendar services in Outlook. Outlook 2007 support iCalendar services without any additional software.

Why do I get errors when I try to subscribe to the iCalendar?

There are a few possible reasons for this:

  • You don't have an iCalendar-compatible calendar program installed on your computer. iCalendar is a file format and if you don't have a program that can read it then you can't subscribe to it.
  • You have an iCalendar-compatible calendar program BUT your computer isn't set up to launch the program when you click on an iCalendar URL on the web. In this case you need to copy the iCalendar URL and manually subscribe to that URL from within your iCalendar-compatible program. If you don't know how to do that please consult the manual or help files that came with your iCalendar-compatible program.

The assignr.com iCalendar feed will deliver your game schedule for any assigned games occurring between one month ago and three months from now.
